Hospital Employees Raise Funds For Coworker’s Child

— The Ozarks Community Hospital recently raised more than $1,000 from employees to purchase an insulin pump for a coworker’s child.

Lab assistant Brianna Ganter’s son Jonah was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes last October. Since his diagnosis he’s received more than 1,100 finger sticks and countless shots. The Ganter family plans to purchase an insulin pumpto save Jonah from four shots a day and greatly cut down the number of finger pricks he must endure, but the expense for the pump is close to $8,000.

In response to Jonah’s need, the OCH Resolutions Unit held a bake sale and Easter basket raffle April 1 to raise funds for Jonah’s pump. The project was a success, raising $1,000 for the Ganter family.

Tommie Powell, who managed the event, said, “We wanted to help the family financially as much as possible and a commoninterest we all have is baking so a bake sale was ideal. With Easter right around the corner, and considering Jonah’s age, Easter baskets just came to mind. We are proud of the money raised with the support of the entire hospital and community. It’s great what we can accomplish when everyone works together.”

Donations are still welcome at any Arvest Bank location, under the savings/trust account, Jonah’s Pump Fund. All funds will be used to purchase the insulin pump for Jonah.
