Gravette Educator Receives Award

— Celeste Michaud of Gravette, a first-year eighth grade science teacher in McDonald County, MO, schools, was recently recognized as Female Teacher of the Year for Rural Schools in Missouri in the Troops to Teacher Program.

The program assists placement of former military personnel in second careers as public school teachers.

Mrs. Michaud served five years in the U. S. Army as a photographer and sound specialist. She was nominated for the award by her principal,Ken Anders.

She and her husband Rick, a retired Army First Sergeant; daughter Faith, 11; and four-month-old son, Zane, make their home in Gravette.

She received a plaque and a monetary stipend to assist with purchase of classroom supplies.
