Honors banquet set

DECATUR — The annual Chamber of Commerce honors banquet, for graduating high school seniors who have excelled academically, will be held on May 17.

Chamber of Commerce members made plans for the event at Monday’s meeting. The chamber recognizes honors graduates, Arkansas Scholars and the valedictorianand salutatorian at the annual awards banquet.

There are between six and eight graduates who meet the qualifications this year - depending on final grades - according to special programs coordinator Bobby King.

“We want to show these kids we support them,” Chamber of Commerce president Royce Johnson said.

The banquet will be held from 11 a.m. until noon, on May 17 in the Gallery Cafe’s new banquet room.
