Opening date postponed for city's recycling trailer

— Gravette’s new recycling trailer was expected to be “open for business” this Friday but, according to the Benton County Solid Waste District, the opening date has been postponed.

Wendy Cravens, Director of the District, said, “Due to the unexpected inclement weather we anticipate the District facility will be closed for the next two or three days. Unfortunately, this will delay our ability to get the trailers readied and switched around as needed. I’ll keep you informed,” she wrote to Allyson Ransom at Gravette City Hall.

The compartmentalized trailers will be located somewhere between City Hall and the Police Station and items which will be accepted and which should be separated include No. 1 and No. 2 plastic bottles; aluminum cans; cardboard mix, which includes boxes, chipboard and brown paper bags;glass bottles/jars including green, blue, brown and clear; steel cans; and mixed paper such as newsprint, catalogs, shredded paper, phone books and like items. There is no charge to utilize the service.

The recycle bin which was often located near Centennial Park in Gravette has been discontinued.
