Bank property zoned back rural-residential

— Three ordinances were passed on their first reading during the July 12 town council meeting and will be coming back before the council in August:

◊An ordinance which was requested by Legacy Bank to rezone 120 acres of land northwest of Arkansas Highway 12 on the western edge of the city limits back to ruralresidential from C-2 commercial - following a hearing, the rezoning was approved by the town’splanning commission at its June 28 meeting;

◊An ordinance amending and restating portions of Highfill’s sewer regulations in order to provide for the transport and disposal of liquid waste; and

◊An ordinance amending the adopted budget for 2011 in the town of Highfill.

A resolution was passed reappointing Sandy Evans to position 3 of the town’s parks commission.

Another resolution passed approved the use of disaster grant funds received from the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program for drainage improvements along Hutchens Road.
