DECA students earn honors

— Students in the Gravette High School DECA program, an association of marketing students, recently attended the State DECA Leadership Conference in Little Rock.

Students competed in four team-decisionproposal events, three individual-presentationevents and the DECA quiz bowl. A total of 14 students were involved in competition, with six earning awards which were presented on-stage. These included five firstplace honors and one fifth-place award. Ten students qualified for nationals.

Other competitors included Chance Delgado and Victor Vang, hospitality and tourism team;Ishtar Vang and Amy Lee, travel and tourism team; Sabrina Hernandez, apparel and accessories; Seth Rutherford and Taylor Fournier, financial services team; and Kevin Smith, marketing management.

Bob Johnson, GHS marketing and business instructor, was honored as 2011 Arkansas Marketing Teacher of the Year.
