Board approves gym seating

— School board members unanimously approved a bid to replace the home bleachers at the Gentry High School gym and repaint the facility, including the gym ceiling and locker rooms.

The current pull-out seats will be replaced with two sections of seating with chair backs and one section without the chair backs.

Also included in the resolution was the replacement of four breakaway backboards - one of which is broken and beyond repair - and painting of the gym, including the ceiling and locker rooms.

The estimated cost for all the work was just under $130,000, with money to come out of the school district’s building fund.

Since work was done on the floors, lighting and the parking lot of the gym, the project was viewed as a good way to make needed repairs and improvements and finish up the gym so other facility improvements could be made in future years.
