MT. PLEASANT NEWS

I woke up this morning to a most enjoyable sound - the soft patter of rain. There's nothing quite like the fresh smell of rain. It just seems to wash away all cares and troubles. The trees seem to lift up their branches in thanks for their blessing of rain.

I'll go back and get caught up on September news. The Arkansas Edgmons held their annual reunion in Mossville, Newton County, on September the 25th. We had a good showing from here with the following: Bill and Susan, Phyllis, Wilma, Julie, Lexie, Darlie, Louise, Scott, Missy Hall, Jacob,Haley, Jenny, Logan, Addie and myself. I think we all ate too much, but that is part of the enjoyment isn't it? The turnout was a little down this year but we still had a great group and a fantastic time. It's too bad that this only happens once a year. It was a little sad too, because this is the first year without J.E. Edgmon, our dear cousin. J.E. passed away earlier this year. But his legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren. The weather was perfect, a little foggy but that was okay. With the cooler weather, the elk were up closer than last year. Don't know if this had anything to do with it or not, but I'll pretend thatit did. Darlie was able to get several good pictures of the elk, and danced a jig for me when she heard the bull elk bugle. Such simple things that can make a child happy!

On September 28th Mt. Pleasant celebrated Gladys Gattons ?? birthday with cake and ice-cream. Her birthday was on the 29th. Even though her birthday is past, if you haven't talked to her for a while, give her a call. She would love hearing from friends.

Our October calendar is going to be full. We will start off with a trip to the corn maze in Southwest City on the 22nd for the kids, and those that are kids at heart. On the 29th we will have our annual Fall Festival with wiener roast and hayride at the church. Bring your roasting sticks and join us. Then on October the 30th we will have our 5th Sunday Singing. This is always a lot of fun. I invite you all to come out and sing with us.

I hope the rain continues as we certainly need it. It is so nice to have the cooler air too. Hopefully this will help the fall foliage to be really bright and beautiful this year. I know the sassafras is already red. Least I think that is what it is!

I hope everyone has a very blessed week. Pray for one another and our country. God bless.
