Report from 2011

The report of a successful 2011 by SSSEI includes the following:

Thanks to our wonderful community, in April SSSEI was able to participate in Sulphur Springs Fire Department’s annual Easter Egg Hunt.

In May, after having a spirit night at Bentonville’s Chick-Fil-A, the Scholarship Committee chose Gravette HighSchool senior Kahlief Steele as the recipient of a $250 scholarship.

Thanks to the joint efforts of SSSEI and Gravette School District, over 1,900 meals were served in Gravette and Sulphur Springs during June and July through the Seamless Summer Feeding Program. In July SSSEI warmed up the griddles for its annual Pancake Breakfast.

SSSEI welcomed runners back to Sulphur Springs for its second annual Burr Oak Race.

In time for Thanksgiving, SSSEI partnered with auctioneer Dwayne Craig for its fifth annual Dessert Auction. Thanks was expressed to each business and individual who made the dessert auction the success that it was. With the proceeds of the auction and corresponding food drive, SSSEI was able to deliver Thanksgiving food baskets to families in the community.

On Dec. 3 the community of Sulphur Springs came together for its 25th annual Progressive Dinner. Carolers didn’t let the rain and chilly weather dampen their Christmas spirit. Also in December, SSSEI partnered with the Gravette School District to provide 15 children and 30 families with Christmasgifts and food baskets.

“None of this could have been possible without the tireless efforts of so many individuals in our community. Thank you to everyone who has partnered with SSSEI to Build Up Our Community Together,” the report concluded.
