School assures parents

Gravette School District has a police officer at each campus and a crisis plan in place.

— Parents of children in the Gravette School District are assured the campuses in Gravette continue to be patrolled by resource officers - one at the high school, the second at the downtown campus complex. The system, in cooperation with the Gravette Police Department, has been in place for several years.

Superintendent Richard Page said automated door systems are in place at all schools except the middle school, which will be so equipped when the new classroom addition is completed. A double entry system is in place in the present entrance.

Surveillance cameras are also in place which monitor interior hallways.

The school’s committee involved with security questions has met three times this year, the last time in November, with sheriff’s deputy Cpl. Kurt Banta. Another meeting will be held shortly.

A crisis plan is also in place for all employees which designates which action should be taken, depending on the circumstances, to keep children safe.
