GRAVETTE — January 25 was a banner day for the Gravette High School FBLA organization. Twenty-four students traveled with their advisor, Harry Almond, his student teacher, Thomas Carreira, and Mrs. Almond to the Convention Center in Springdale for the first District VII Spring Conference.
Competitions in about 60 events were held between 8:45 and 11:30 a.m. Following lunch, an awards assembly was held in which all of the students placed in the top 10 in their event.
First place winners were: Accounting II,Logan Hirsch; Business Calculations, Seth Rutherford; Business Math, Carson Alsup; Public Speaking I, Noah Smith; Public Speaking II, Sayer Smith.
Second place winner was: Job Interview, Haley House.
Third place winners were: Business Law, Aubree Garrett; Economics, Zach Griffin; Introduction to Business, Emma Roman.
Fourth place winners were: Business Ethics, Taylor Fournier and Josh Lockhart; Business Procedures, Ricky Wolfinbarger; Cyber Security, Kyle Cox; Introduction to Technology Concepts, Sam Reister; Digital Video Production, Denyce Williams, Hailey Karaand Wyatt Gibbons.
Fifth place winners were: Business Communication, Stephanie Birch; Sports Management, Zach Deatherage.
Seventh place winners were: Accounting, Tristen Kahanek; Business Presentation, Jayla Brown.
State events winners were: Client Service, Jacquelynn Janes; Management Decision Making, Chad Houtchens and Aaron Hutchings.
These students will travel to Little Rock in April for the state leadership conference to compete against students from across the state.
Haley House, a junior at Gravette High, was elected district FBLA reporter for next year.
