Decatur High School ACT seminar

The Decatur High School is holding a seminar titled “A Good ACT Score Means Money for College” for grades 7-12 students and their parents at 6 p.m., Jan. 19. Bryan Hembrey from the University of Arkansas will be speaking about ways for students to improve their ACT Scores.

Decatur Colors Day

Decatur High School Basketball Colors Day festivities will be held on Jan. 20 in the Lloyd Peterson Gym. Coronation will be held before the boys’ and girls’ games against Hackett which are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

History Book Update

The Sulphur Springs Community Museum Commission is compiling histories for an updated edition of the Sulphur Springs community history book. Residents are asked to submit their family, military or business (old or new) histories. Completed histories and pictures may be turned in until Jan. 31.

Missionary Service

Larry and Christy Doyle will be special guests in a missionary-emphasis service held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Gentry Church of God (Holiness). Involved in Bible translation work, they are currently working with the Solos people on the Island of Buka in Papua New Guinea. Financial Awareness Night

Gravette Public Library and the GHS Parental Involvement Committee are co-hosting a financial awareness night from 7 to8:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, at the library, located at 407 Charlotte St. SE in Gravette. Speakers Rob Teis and Aaron Randall will discuss credit recovery, tax questions, budgeting and general financial information. For more information, call 787-6955 or 787-4193.

Jolly Good Times Club

The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club will be held Wednesday, January 25, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Members will gather at 10:15 in the sitting room. Mary Griffin will give the program. The potluck meal will feature a meat dish prepared by Betty, salad by Mary and dessert by Susan. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Computers for Students

The Gentry Lions Club is accepting used computers to be refurbished and given to students needing acomputer. The club is currently accepting desktops and laptops. Hard drives are reformatted and a new operating system installed before they are given away. For more information or to donate a computer, call Randy Moll at 233-0081.

Decatur Food Bank

Living Water Ministries in Decatur opens its food bank every other Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at 1148 Highway 102 West in Decatur. The next open date for the pantry will be Jan. 20. Anyone who needs assistance is welcome. All that is required is an identification (a photo ID is preferred) and current address. Area Men’s Breakfast

The Decatur United Methodist Church has a men’s breakfast the second Saturday of each month, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Gallery Cafe in Decatur. All area men are invited to join the group for good food and Christian fellowship.

Emergency Help

Families in GravetteSchool District wishing to apply for emergency help with food or utilities may make application from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, at the Main Street Care and Share store in Gravette.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur Food Pantry

The Decatur United Methodist Church offers a food pantry program and a commodity food program for residents in Decatur from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly Men's Fellowship Gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are encouragedto come for the food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.
