Crawleys host farm tour

— Members of the American Milking Shorthorn Society who were attending the 2012 National Convention being held in Bentonville toured the Crawley Valley View Dairy Farm, near Maysville, June 22.

The event was hosted by Tim and Nikki Crawley, their daughters Jessica and Brittany, and Tim’s parents, Don and Jewel Crawley.

This is the first time the national event has been held in Arkansas, giving conference goers an opportunity to see Northwest Arkansas and the state’s dairy industry. They were treated to a barbecue dinner, cobbler and ice creamduring their farm tour.

The Crawley farm was started in 1922 by Tim’s grandfather and greatgrandfather. Don Crawley purchased the farm’s firstmilking shorthorns in 1948. Animals from the farm are perennially winners of local, state and national awards.

Sponsors for the tour included Simmons Industries, Baxter Co-op, Dairy Marketing Services, Midwest Dairy Association, the Benton County and Arkansas Farm Bureau organizations.
