Work updates shared at Springtown meeting

— The town council meeting on Jan. 8 was mostly informational, according to draft minutes supplied to the Eagle Observer.

Then the last trees can be removed. Lemke said he is still following up on how to correct the problem of the runoff from the top of Wasson Road. The two trees at the top of Springtown Road that are leaning over the road are still due to be cut down.

Lemke is still following up on a count of dwellings to be used to determine payment to the Highfill Fire Dept. for services. Carla Wasson, city attorney for Springtown, pointed out that a written contract between the city of Highfill and the town of Springtown would be appropriate.Lemke said he will follow up on this with the mayor of Highfill.

Sirens

Mayor Lemke reported that Andy Goddard would be coming in the next few days to test the town's sirens. After he OK's them, then Milford's will install them, Lemke said.

Park Improvements

Mayor Lemke said he received a letter stating that the Department of Parks and Tourism's Outdoor Recreation Grants and Advisory Committee has recommended that the town be awarded a FUN grant based on the town's application. Springtown will receive $45,000 to assist with improvements to the parks. Lemke will work with the park committee to finalize and implement projects to be funded by this grant.

Mayor Lemke said he is still following up on the issue of FEMA money and whether the town will need to pay back a portion of it.
