DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldog soccer team had mixed results, winning two and losing two.

The Bulldogs played Subiaco Academy on March 14 at home in Bulldog Stadium. The Trojans shutout the Bulldogs by the score of 8 to 0.

Decatur traveled to Prairie Grove to take on the Tigers on March 17. Decatur handed Prairie Grove a defeat at home, winning 4-2.

Decatur took on the Gentry Pioneers in Bulldog Stadium March 18. From the opening whistle, it was all Bulldogs.

They played excellent offense and defense through the 80 minutes of play. Decatur scored eight times during the game, two of which were in the closing minutes of the second half.

Decatur coach Berry James kept the Bulldogs under control and they dominated the ball through most of the game.

On two occasions, the Pioneers made a break for the goal only to have the ball blocked by the Decatur goalie.

In the end, the Decatur Bulldogs defeated the Gentry Pioneers, 8 to 0.

The Bulldogs went on the road March 21 when they traveled to Dardanelle to take on the Sand Lizards. It was a tough battle throughout the game. The Sand Lizards scored the only point in the game and handed Decatur its third loss of the season, taking the game 1 to 0.

The Bulldog soccer team returned to the field after a week off to take on the Eureka Springs Highlanders at Bulldog Stadium March 31.

It was a tough defensive battle for both teams throughout the game. However, the Bulldogs put one point on the scoreboard and went on to defeat the Highlanders, 1 to 0.

Before the first game started, both coaches decided to play a second game, pitting the Bulldogs against the Highlanders junior varsity team. The final in that match was 5 to 0, Decatur.

The Decatur soccer team is now 3 and 2 overall.

James has managed to pull together players from the junior and senior football and basketball teams to form what could be a district championship team this season. With 10 games remaining in the 2014 soccer season, it will be interesting to see how far they go.
