Lady Lions shut out Lincoln, come up short in Pea Ridge

GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lions shut out the Lady Wolves in Lincoln on March 31 but could not get past the Lady Blackhawks in Pea Ridge on April 1.

Lindsee LaBrecque shut out Lincoln, striking out five, walking two and allowing only one hit in the game. LaBrecque also led her teammates in RBIs, with three.

Emily Miller hit a center field home run in the second inning and drove in Samantha Pruitt, but the damage was already done, with the Lady Lions blowing open the game in the top of the first, scoring eight runs.

Things only got worse for Lincoln, with Gravette adding another run in the third and four more unanswered runs in the fourth and final inning of the game.

The final was 15-0, Gravette.

Things didn't go as well when the Gravette ladies visited Pea Ridge on April 1.

The Lady Lions scored a run in the opening inning when Jaye Chalk, who had singled to third, later scored on a walk with bases loaded.

Pea Ridge matched that run in its half of the inning and scored one run each in the third, fourth and fifth innings, all the while holding Gravette to a single run.

Gravette had four hits to six for Pea Ridge, but the Lady Lions also racked up four errors in the game.

LaBrecque pitched six innings for Gravette and struck out eight. She allowed only one earned run in the game.

LaBrecque also led the Lady Lions in hits, with two. Ashleigh Horn picked up an RBI when she walked and advanced Chalk to home.
