Benefit to be held for Zane Johnson

GRAVETTE -- A benefit bake sale is planned this Friday, May 2, for Zane Johnson, 8-year-old son of Jared and Beth Johnson. The sale will be held in the lobby of the Bank of Gravett.

Zane suffered a stroke before he was born, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at nine months old and has spent years in therapy. In first grade he began to have seizures. During an EEG on Feb. 19, doctors found that Zane has a rare epileptic disorder that causes his brain to seize almost continuously.

After two weeks in ICU at Arkansas Children's Hospital, Zane had major brain surgery and is progressing remarkably well. His doctors expected him to be paralyzed on one side and unable to speak, but he is exceeding their expectations. He can move his right arm and leg and keeps telling his parents he wants to go home.

Medical bills are quite extensive, so a benefit medical account has been set up at the Bank of Gravett. Persons who wish to help the family can donate to that account, donate or buy baked goods at the bake sale.
