Decatur junior high track wins district meet

Decatur -- Score one more victory for a Decatur high school team in Eureka Springs. This time it was the junior high track team winning the district track meet on April 24.

The junior high boys took the overall meet points standing with an impressive 236 points. Second place went to Union Christian with 126.5 points. Mountainburg placed third with 86.5 points, with Johnson County Westside close behind with 86 points. Hartford finished in fifth place with 62 points, while host Eureka Springs finished with only 5 points.

"I am very proud of the junior high team this season," Decatur track coach Shane Holland stated. "They have worked very hard to get to where we are today. It looks like I will have a great senior high team going into next season."

The junior high boys team is comprised of Jaffett Puga, Moises Hernandez, Troy Kell, Joseph Cordova, Taylor Haisman, Alex Lee, Leng Lee, Marck Guadarrama, Luis Ocampo, Skyler Henson , Ryan Shaffer, Wyatt Bingham, Tajae White, Jimmy Mendoza, Bracy Owens, and Brandon Coker.

The Decatur junior high girls tied for fifth place with Union Christian both with a team score of 69 points. Johnson County Westside won the girls district meet with 199 points.

The junior high team is comprised of Sammie Skaggs, Desi Meek, Leticia Fuentes, Cameron Shaffer, Paige Vann, Ashley Pike, Joni Moppin, and Talor Thompson.
