DECATUR -- The air was once again filled with the sounds of basketballs bouncing down the court and shots hitting nothing but net during practice at Peterson Gym July 7 as the Decatur Bulldog senior basketball team prepared for its first game in the Gentry summer basketball league.

The Bulldogs will play the Rogers Mounties at 4 p.m. in the Gentry High School gym on July 10.

This will be the first of a series of games Decatur will play at Gentry every Tuesday and Thursday night at 4 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. throughout the month of July.

"This will give our boys a chance to compete with some of the bigger schools in the area that they wouldn't normally play during the regular season," said John Unger, Decatur's head basketball coach.

Unger hopes that, by playing in the summer league against different teams and coaching styles, the Bulldogs will be better prepared for the start of the regular season in November.
