Mario and Victor Urquidi lead in season point tally

DECATUR -- With the end of the Decatur basketball season, several players showed outstanding shooting and rebounding abilities.

Three Bulldogs scored over 100 points this season. Mario Urquidi, one of the team leaders, racked up an impressive 471 points and 301 total rebounds. Victor Urquidi made 216 total points and 144 rebounds for the season. He is followed by Meng Vang with 133 points and 78 rebounds. These three players may well be on their way to earning a spot on the 2A all-state championship team to be announced at the end of the playoffs.

But as Mario Urquidi stated, "It is a total team effort."

The following is the total point tally for other Bulldog players scoring points: Pheng Lee -- 99, Trey Kell -- 90, Terry Kell -- 73, Kyle Shaffer -- 63, Allen Castaneda -- 38, Matt Lee -- 9, Troy Flood -- 4, Ray Hiasman -- 3 and Brody Funk -- 3.

The good news, 11 players will return next season and there will be a new batch of talent coming on board from this year's junior high team.

The 2014-15 Decatur Bulldog boys' basketball team will likely be a top contender in conference and beyond.
