Council hears updates

SPRINGTOWN -- In a 15-minute meeting on Friday, Springtown council members approved last month's minutes and heard a number of brief updates.

Carla Wasson, city attorney for Springtown, reported that the statue of limitations requires that a response to Springtown's appeal of a FEMA decision requesting repayment of a portion of money awarded the city for the Aubrey Long Road bridge project be issued no later than May.

The town's park committee is following up on plans for this summer's Springtown Barbecue and will distribute flyers to advertise the event and will begin requesting donations from local businesses.

Jan Cox, city clerk, reported that Mayor Paul Lemke is still following up on efforts to obtain help in enforcing the town's animal ordinances. Lenke is also following up on plans for a water garden for a new park area by Aubrey Long Road bridge.

A new contract has been issued by Empire District in accordance with the requirements listed by Wasson for the town. The contract will be voted on at the April Council meeting.

The clerk reported that Mayor Lemke is following up to see that the survey is completed for a walking trail.

Amanda Richardson asked that a date be set for a time to clean up the town's park. There are limbs that need to be picked up and mulch needs to be put down. The council agreed that the cleanup day will be Saturday, March 30, beginning at 9 a.m.
