Gravette growing n Additional land is annexed by petition

GRAVETTE -- The city of Gravette is growing, with annexation of slightly more than 400 acres, as a result of a recent decision by County Judge Bob Clinard.

The action came March 10 after 12 landowners at the north edge of the earlier annexed Hiwasse area petitioned the Benton County Court to become a part of Gravette.

The land parcels, which lie mostly on the north side of Highway 279, abut Bella Vista.

Landowners on the petition, which was originally filed last October, are: Aaron Flynn Rockford, Judy Huse, Gayle and Phyllis Woodall, Bob Huddleston, Carol Huddleston Revocable Trust, Tom Fredericks, Dorothy Mahon Willoughby, George and Arthurene Bullock, Paul and Fonnie Mahon, Christie Lynn Mahon, Barbara and Donald Seideman, Jim and Anita Poindexter.

According to Gravette City Recorder/Treasurer Mike von Ree, who handled the process, no opposition was heard at the hearing before Judge Clinard. It becomes effective 30 days after the order was issued.

von Ree said, though the area does not add many residents, it does take in a strip of unincorporated land between the boundaries of the two cities.

It follows after several individuals and groups requested to join Gravette after the initial Hiwasse petition was approved in February two years ago.
