GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers fell to the Lincoln Lady Wolves in district play at Prairie Grove on Thursday when they were not able to make up their run deficit created when Lincoln put seven runners across home plate in the second, losing the district playoff game 9-7.

The Gentry girls took the lead in the first when Brooke Boston walked, was advanced to third by a Jordan Olds double to right and then made it home on a bad throw. But Lincoln took the upper hand, scoring seven runs in the second on five hits, including three doubles and a triple.

Gentry attempted a comeback in the top of the fifth, scoring two runs after Samantha Curran walked, Courtney Brown and Boston singled -- Curran and Brown made it home when Olds flyed out to right and Christina Campbell hit a ground ball to third. But Lincoln answered with another two in the bottom of the inning.

Jaime Pierce tripled to center and drove in Curran in the sixth. Olds hit a solo homer in the seventh to start another Gentry comeback rally in Gentry's last at bat. Following Olds, Campbell singled to second, Rebecca Evens doubled with a fly ball to center, Shamere Corter singled to drive in Campbell and Baeley Metz grounded out to the shortstop, advancing Evans across home plate.

But it wasn't enough and it was game over for the Gentry girls when Corter got caught in an attempt to steal her way to third.

The Lady Pioneers had 10 hits and seven runs in the game. The Lady Wolves had 10 hits and nine on the board.

Olds led the Pioneers in batting with three hits in four at bats. She also led in RBIs with two runs batted in.

Olds pitched all six innings and allowed 10 hits and nine runs. She struck out three Lincoln batters.
