Letter to the Editor

Editor,

I want to say a special Thanks to our Gravette medical professionals. We are so fortunate for a town the size of Gravette to have trained medical professionals just minutes away.

This past February, while riding my horse, I fell off and broke my shoulder. My husband called 911 and five EMTs from the Gravette Fire Department responded within minutes. If you ever broke your shoulder, you know how excruciatingly painful it is. These responders were absolutely awesome. They were able to get me up, stabilize my shoulder, relieve some of the pain, drive down a gravel road, avoiding the pot holes, and get me to Emergency at the Ozarks Community Hospital in minutes. If it weren't for them, I'd probably still be lying there.

When we arrived at Ozarks Community Emergency, the doctor on call and his staff were waiting. Immediately, vitals were taken, pain medication administered and X-rays performed. There was no waiting 15 or 30 minutes to see someone. The entire emergency team was professional, responsive and sympathetic to my needs. They even tried to make me laugh. You guys were great.

Needless to say, this type of injury requires lots of physical therapy. In my opinion, Gravette Ozarks Community Hospital physical therapy department is outstanding. The physical therapists on staff are highly trained and skilled professionals. They work really hard to insure each patient receives one-on-one treatment and an individualized exercise regimen. Thanks to them, I'm back cleaning stalls again.

I guess what I really want to say is thanks to everyone who has supported me through this adventure, both medically and professionally. Gravette is truly blessed to have such an outstanding medical facility and trained medical professionals in our city limits. It was great not to have to drive 30 minutes to Bentonville, Rogers or Siloam Springs. While I hope you never have to use the services these medical professionals provide, know that if you do, you're in good hands.
