Quilting Class

A class for area quilters and crafters will be held this Saturday, Oct. 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving Street S.W., in Gravette. Instruction will be given on a quilt block, and a "show and tell" session will be held. Please bring finished projects or works in progress and a snack to share.

Halloween Train Museum

The city of Decatur Train Museum will be open from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 for Halloween night. There will be a short story at 6 p.m. called "Ghost Handprints." There will also be tricks or treats.

School Parental Plan

The Decatur School District's School Parental Plan for 2014-2015 school year is on the school website, parent center in each building, school bulletin board and also in each school office.

Prayer for the Persecuted

The Pioneer Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a special service to observe the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. This will be a time to remember those persecuted for their faith around the world. All Saints' Day Service

The Pioneer Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a special All Saints' Day service on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. Those who wish to participate may dress up as their favorite Bible character and put on a short skit to see if others can guess which Bible character they are impersonating. Everyone in a skit will receive a prize. Anyone who wishes may bring treats and distribute them to the children after the service. Family Fall Festival

Heritage Baptist Church is hosting a Family Fall Festival, Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for children ages birth to sixth grade. Families are welcome. There will be lots of fun games, a cake walk and tons of candy. No scary costumes, please.

Church Fall Festival

Harvest Baptist Church of Gravette is planning its annual fall festival and chili cook off from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in the parking lot of Harvest Baptist Church, located 2 miles south of Gravette on Arkansas Highway 59. Food, games, face painting, bounce houses, music and lots of fun are planned for the entire family. There is no cost to enter or participate in the fall festival (with the exception of the chili cook off). Chili contestants are asked to have their completed chili, along with their $5 entry fee, at the main entrance of the church no later than 4 p.m. All money from the entry fees will be used for the grand prize chili cook off winner. Youth Basketball Sign-up

Gravette Youth Basketball sign-ups for Grades 4-6 will be held in the old gym on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Gravette School Flu Clinic

Gravette public schools will hold a flu immunization clinic on Oct. 16. Information packets were sent home with the students earlier this month with instructions to sign a consent form and return it by Oct. 13. Those who did not receive a packet and would like their children to participate should contact the children's school office.

Senior Center Flu Shots

A flu shot clinic for senior citizens will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Billy V. Hall Senior Center, 1870 Limekiln Road, in Gravette. Persons wanting to get a flu shot that day must sign up in advance. A Medicare card is required or $35 is due at the time of vaccination. Call 479-787-5950 for questions or to sign up.

Mayoral Debate

A debate between the two Gravette mayoral candidates, Kurt Maddox and incumbent Byron Warren, will be a feature of the Gravette Kiwanis Club at their regular meeting at 7 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17. The meeting is held in the cafeteria at the Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette. The public is invited.

New Saturday Hours

The Gravette Public Library is now open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekday hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Crafts and More

Maysville Extension Homemakers Club is sponsoring a "Crafts and More" event Nov. 1 at the Maysville Community Building. Vendors may rent a booth to sell items for only $10. To reserve a booth, call 479-291-4520.

Sulphur Springs Library

The Sulphur Springs Public Library, located at 512 Black Street, is now open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m. with volunteer help. Library membership cards for an individual may be purchased for $2 and a family card is $5. Phone 479-298-3753 for further information.

Gravette Library Gala

The second annual Gravette Public Library fund-raising gala will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Cedaridge Event Center, 10889 Highway 72 W., in Bentonville. The event will feature a catered dinner, casino games, silent auction and a DJ. Dress is business/casual. Tickets are available for $25 per person or $160 for a table of eight and may be purchased at the Gravette library, Arvest Bank - Gravette and the Bank of Gravett or from any library commission member. Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men's fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

Mason Valley Baptist

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Highway 12 midway between Highfill and Vaughn.

Church Singing

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Gravette Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 1 p.m. on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the Billy V. Hall Wellness and Activity Center on Limekiln Road in Gravette. Lunch is available for anyone interested. New members are welcome.

Gentry History Book

Stories and old photos are being sought from Gentry residents, past and present, for the new Gentry 120-year history book being prepared for publication. Stories about individuals, families and businesses are being sought. Suggested length is 300 words and the name of the submitter should be included at the end of each story. Items may be sent to Gentry History Book, P.O. Box 642, Gentry, AR 72734. Deadline for submissions is Nov. 1. The Gentry history books may be pre-ordered for $65 using the form included on the Gentry Chamber of Commerce website.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the McKee Community Room, in the Gentry Public Library, on Main Street at N. Collins Ave. New members and visitors are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
