DECATUR -- Residents of Decatur now have an easier and more convenient way to pay their water bills, thanks to a new application on the city's website.
"One of the things I was asked to do during my campaign was to provide the ability to pay water bills online through the city's website," said Bob Tharp, Decatur mayor. "I am pleased to say that we have accomplished this and it is now up and running."
The new system, which went online March 25, allows Decatur water customers to make electronic payments either online or by phone. The system is easy to use and takes only a few minutes to complete.
To use the online system, simply enter the city's website (www.decaturarkansas.com), find the "Helpful Links" and scroll down to "water bill pay online." Click on the link, which will go to SofttelPay. Enter account number and follow the online instructions. There is a convenience fee for each transaction. To see the schedule, click on "department" and go to "water and sewer."
Residents wishing to pay by phone can dial 855-483-5729 and follow the menu instructions.
With this new system, Decatur residents no longer have to drive to city hall to pay their water bill. In fact, several Decatur residents have already taken advantage of this new service during the first two days of operation.
