GRAVETTE -- After winning big and losing big last week, the Lions came through in the sixth to secure a close victory over the visiting Elks of Elkins on Monday, 4-3.

With runs in the first and third, the Lions had a 2-0 edge going into the fourth, but the Elks tied things up with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth and then took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth.

The Lions took back the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Luke Summerford singled to center, Mathew Stelting singled to left and Zach Nelson singled to right. Chase Owens, pinch runner for Summerford, scored on Nelson's single. Stelting later scored on a third baseman's error, giving Gravette the edge it needed to win.

The Elks went down three in a row in the top of the seventh, giving the Lions the win.

Nelson had two hits and Gravette's only RBI in the game.
