Lady Lions come back, win

GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lions battled their way back to bring home a 6-4 victory when they traveled to Pea Ridge on April 6, tying things up in the fifth and taking a two-run lead in the top of the seventh.

Lindsee LaBrecque, Gravette's opening batter, singled with a ground ball to left in the top of the first. Abbi Krewson, pinch runner for LaBrecque, stole second and advanced to third on a Jaye Chalk sacrifice. Krewson scored when Emily Miller sacrificed with a hard ground ball to second.

But, by the end of the first, the game was tied with one run each, and Pea Ridge had upped the ante to make it 4-1 by the end of the third.

Gravette answered in the top of the fifth when Jaye Chalk drove in Jessica Crawley. Raylee Lemonds, courtesy runner for Miller, moved around the bases and scored when Sierra Lemonds doubled to center. Then Sierra Lemonds scored after Megan McAfee singled with a line drive to right field.

The Lady Lions took the lead in the top of the seventh when LaBrecque reached first on a third baseman's error and Jaye Chalk pounded one over the center field fence and brought home courtesy runner Abbi Krewson.

Jaye Chalk led in RBIs for Gravette, with three. Miller, Sierra Lemonds and McAfee each had one. McAfee led in hits, with three. She had two doubles.

LaBrecque was the winning pitcher. She pitched the full seven innings, throwing 126 pitches, striking out five and walking two. She allowed two earned runs and four hits, with two being solo home runs.
