Lady Lions tear up Lady Panthers

GRAVETTE -- Though the visiting Lady Panthers scored two runs on three singles and a sacrifice fly in the first, they proved no match for the Lady Lions in their April 21 matchup at Gravette High School. By the bottom of the first, the game was tied up at two apiece, by the bottom of the second it was a 7-2 Gravette game and, by the end of six, the final was 16-5, Gravette.

The Lady Lions tied things up in the first after Lindsee LaBrecque and Jessica Crawley walked and were advanced by a Jaye Chalk sacrifice. Emily Miller then hit a hard ground ball to left, scoring LaBrecque and Crawley.

The bottom of the second was a big one for Gravette, with LaBrecque hitting a double to left, scoring Jaki Chalk and Destiny Laymon. LaBrecque scored after Jessica Crawley singled to the pitcher and Jaye Chalk reached first on a sacrifice bunt. Emily Miller then brought Jessica Crawley and Jaye Chalk home with a line-drive double to center.

The Lady Lions added two more in the third. Abbi Krewson was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Laymon single to the short stop. Laymon scored on a LaBrecque grounder to short.

In the fourth, Jaye Chalk and Megan McAfee both singled to center. After Brittany Crawley walked, Jaki Chalk drove in Jaye Chalk and McAfee. A LaBrecque hard ground ball to third brought in Brittany Crawley and Jaki Chalk.

Miller crossed the plate in the fifth after she singled and Sierra Lemonds hit a line-drive double to center. LaBrecque and Jessica Crawley added two more runs and ended the game in the sixth after a LaBrecque double, a Jaye Chalk sacrifice and an Emily Miller ground-ball single to center.

Emily Miller and Lindsee LaBrecque led in RBIs with six and five, respectively. Jaki Chalk had two. Sierra Lemonds, Miller and LaBrecque all had doubles (LaBreque had two).

LaBrecque pitched all six innings for the Lady Lions, allowing nine hits and four earned runs.
