Third library gala planned

— Plans are almost complete for the third annual Gravette library gala and auction. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the barn at Big Springs on Beaty Road (look for signs).

This year's gala features a "Hoe Down" theme and will include a catered meal from Dink's BBQ, country music by Bill Mullen and Johnny Dale Roberts and an appearance by award-winning cowboy poet Ron McDaniel.

A live auction by David Barber Auction Service and a silent auction of donated items will both be held as a part of the fundraiser. A wide variety of quality items will be auctioned, including tickets to Silver Dollar City and Branson attractions, gift certificates to area restaurants, artwork, turquoise and other jewelry, rounds of golf, massage, an area rug, BB gun, gift baskets and much more.

Several fun outdoor activities will be available, including a dunk tank operated by the Sulphur Springs Fire Department, a shooting gallery and bean bag toss. A photo booth will be set up where those attending can also have a souvenir photo made.

Buildings have been purchased on Main Street which will be the future home of the library. A fund drive is underway to raise money for renovation of those buildings. Library commissioners invite all to put on their boots and 10-gallon hats, tie a bandana around their necks and come out for an evening of good food and entertainment to help with that effort.

Tickets may be purchased for $50 each, or buy six and get one free. They are available at Bank of Gravett, Arvest Bank and at the library. Business owners are encouraged to buy a table or tables and bring several employees to enjoy the evening.
