Jack and Ruth Elder will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1:30 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30, at the VFW Post, 830 S. Lincoln, Siloam Springs.

Jack is a real estate broker at Tall Star Realty in Gentry, and Ruth is a retired school teacher and homemaker. They have two daughters -- Rhonda (Elder) and her husband Michael Tomlinson live in Jacksonville, N.C., and Von Elder lives in Gentry.
Jack and Ruth met and got engaged in Gentry and were married on Aug. 29, 1955, in Ooltewah, Tenn., by Jack's brother, Elder William Elder.
