GRAVETTE -- Ozarks Community Hospital has welcomed board-certified psychiatrist Lloyd Spencer, M.D., to the medical staff.

Spencer is the psychiatrist for the new geriatric intensive outpatient program, Living Well Holistic Center, which officially opened to patients on Aug. 17. Dr. Spencer will not only treat patients within the IOP but will also provide services to patients admitted in other departments of OCH.

"I am excited about the mission and the team I will be working with here at OCH," explained Dr. Spencer. "The atmosphere within OCH truly feels like a family, and I can't wait to be a part of that family."

The Living Well Holistic Center is a professional mental health program designed to meet the individual needs of senior adults, ages 65 and older, who are dealing with emotional or behavioral issues often related to aging. The program is for patients who require less than 24-hour care who may need a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and more treatment than can be reasonably provided in a traditional outpatient setting.

Physicians, healthcare professionals, human service agencies, family members or friends may make referrals. Transportation is available to and from the program at no cost, if needed. For more information about the Living Well Holistic Center, call 479-344-6725.

Dr. Spencer received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He went on to complete his psychiatric residency at the University of Iowa. He is currently a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Previous to OCH, Dr. Spencer worked as a staff psychiatrist with Preferred Family Healthcare Inc. at the Dayspring Behavioral Health location in Rogers. He also had the opportunity to serve as medical director for numerous mental health institutes throughout his career, as well as own and operate a solo psychiatric practice in Rogers.

Ozarks Community Hospital is a regional safety net health system providing care to urban and rural communities throughout the Ozarks. The OCH health system encompasses two hospitals and 18 clinics located in Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. For more information, visit www.OCHonline.com.
