GRAVETTE -- Amanda Pinter, a senior at Gravette High School, signed last Friday to play volleyball at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.

Amanda is finishing her second year as a middle hitter on the Gravette Lions volleyball team. She will likely play the same position for the Southwestern College Moundbuilders, according to Southwestern volleyball coach Carolina Garbato.

Pinter is the daughter of Jodi and Stephen Pinter of Bella Vista. She was introduced Friday by her Gravette Lion volleyball coach, Katie Collins, who said, "Amanda is a leader who pushed everybody to do better. She is a strong player who goes after what she wants, a real competitor."

Garbato related how impressed she was by Pinter when she made a recent visit to the Southwestern College campus. "I liked her attitude," she said. "She seemed happy. She fit in with the girls there and she will be a great addition to our program."

Pinter's parents were on hand for the signing, as well as her two sisters, Kasey Pinter, a 2004 graduate of Gravette High School, and Stephanie Pinter, a junior at GHS who plays the outside position on the Lions volleyball team.
