HIGHFILL -- Richard Lee Guess, 44, of Springdale, was arrested Dec. 21 on multiple warrants for failure to pay child support, as well as a failure to appear and a probation violation, according to a press release issued by the Highfill Police Department last week. Guess had initial bond totals of more than $100,000 dollars, according to the release.

The arrest was the result of an active warrants investigation conducted by Sergeant Kelby Jenison.

Guess was being held in the Benton County Jail on Monday.

During the holiday season, the Highfill Police Department will be participating in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled over" campaign. The heightened enforcement period continues through Jan. 3.

This means officers will be targeting those who put lives in danger, especially those who have consumed alcohol or drugs. The Highfill Police Department will have zero tolerance for impaired driving, according to the release.

"Please utilize a designated driver," said Blake Webb, Highfill police chief. Those who drink or use drugs and then drive should remember they're putting their own life and the lives of others at risk, Webb said.

Participation in the statewide enforcement action provides enhanced safety and utilizes extra enforcement specifically geared towards DWI-DUI detection and enforcement. It also allows departments to become eligible for extra equipment and incentives to help with future enforcement activities, Webb said.
