Water tank overflows

GENTRY -- For those who noticed water running in the ditches and in a field on the west side of Arkansas Highway 59 on Monday morning, the water was the result of a city water tank overflow.

A Gentry water tank, just to the east of Arkansas Highway 59, at the corner of E. Crawford Street and Robin Rd., overflowed early Monday morning when a valve failed to shut off water feeding into the storage tank, according to Kevin Johnston, Gentry mayor. He said the water department had already shut off the water but what had overflowed was continuing to drain away from the tank.

According to Johnston, the city is currently using only one of the two storage tanks at the location, with the other being repaired, resealed and repainted inside and out.

Johnston said he had received a number of phone calls due to the water running in the ditches and overflowing a pond on the west side of Arkansas 59.
