Board hires special education teachers, extends football coach's contract length

GRAVETTE -- Gravette school board members voted to hire two new special education teachers following an executive session at the May school board meeting. Lisa Milton will be employed as a high school resource special education teacher and Amanda Gruver as a self-contained special education teacher at Glenn Duffy Elementary School for the 2015-16 school year. Codi Bates and Samantha Bates will also be added to the staff as special education paraprofessionals, and Elain Hodges was hired as the dyslexia interventionist/reading Title I interventionist for next year.

In other action, the board voted to approve Shannon Mitchell as the assistant junior high cheerleading sponsor for the 2015-16 year and to extend head coach Bill Harrelson's contract to 240 days.

The board accepted the resignations of Kim Williams, Spanish teacher; Breana Clark, choir director; Jaron Porter, social studies/German teacher; and Julie Evans and Curtis Curry, bus drivers.

Then, in a special school board meeting held Wednesday, May 27, board members approved hiring of four more persons. Mollie Collins will be employed as a physical education teacher, Teresa Davis as a special education teacher, Robin Hilger as a med pro teacher and HOSA sponsor and Brian Weeks as a custodian.
