Arbor Day Celebration

Gentry Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Arbor Day celebration in the park and Gentry mayor's proclamation at 1 p.m. on March 16. The Chamber is buying and planting a large white pine to plant for Arbor Day but then use during the holiday season as a community Christmas tree. FFA students from Gentry High School will be assisting at the planting.

Community Sunrise

Service

Heritage Baptist Church is hosting the annual Sunrise Service, Sunday, April 5. The service will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude by 8:30 a.m. There will be a mixture of music from area churches and a message from God's Word to close the service. Those interested in participating in the service are asked to contact the church at 479-787-6782. Heritage Baptist Church is located at 308 4th Ave., in Gravette.

90th Birthday Card Shower

NAGS to Meet

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 23, at the Bentonville Public Library. Lisa Ferguson Cady of the Clan Ferguson Society of North America will present a program about Scottish clans and researching them. For more information, call 479-271-6820. The public is welcome.

Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Safe Room Open House

An open house for the new safe room and community room at North Arkansas Senior Housing of Gravette is set from 12 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the facility located at 700 Irving Street, S.W. The community is invited.

Go7 Food Program

The Go7 food program will distribute free food and paper goods at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Gravette Civic Center (Boys and Girls Club building) on Charlotte St., S.E. This program is open to the public and requires no proof of income. Bags may be brought. The food program will continue on the last Saturday of each month at the same time and location.

GED Classes Offered

GED classes are under way at the Gravette Public Library, 407 Charlotte St., S.E. Spring classes have begun and will continue on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. through May 6.

Computer Skills Classes

A class in basic computer skills begins today, Wednesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Gravette Public Library. The class will cover basic uses of the computer, including some shortcuts for using the mouse, how to get an email address and send and receive emails and how to do basic Internet searches. Cost of the class is $5 per person. Classes are small so everyone can ask questions and get help. Persons wishing to attend this session; a Microsoft Word class, beginning March 18; or a class in building your resume, which will begin March 25, are asked to call Rhonda, 479-787-6955, mornings or see her at the library, located at 407 Charlotte Street S.E.

Gravette Farmers'

Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market will open for its eighth season on Saturday, April 18, and run through November. The market will operate on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It will feature locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more. Gravette Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 1 p.m. on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the Billy V. Hall Wellness and Activity Center on Limekiln Road in Gravette. New members are welcome.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gentry Lions Club

Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the McKee Community Room, in the Gentry Public Library, on Main Street at N. Collins Ave. New members and visitors are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
