GRAVETTE -- The threat of rain just before noon Monday, March 9, didn't discourage Gravette businessmen from turning out for the ribbon cutting at the Dynamic Rhythm Dance Studio on East Main Street. Several were present to congratulate owner Jodi Moore of Bella Vista and her husband at the event sponsored by the Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce.

Moore spoke to the guests and outlined her plans for the business. She said remodeling was to begin soon and she had "big dreams" for the studio. She likes the Main Street location, she said. And, since she owns the whole building, she plans to add a graphic design business in the back in the future. She said the studio is large enough to accommodate organization meetings and family gatherings and she would be willing to rent the space out for such events.

Jodi, who moved here from Jonesboro in 2013 when her husband relocated with Walmart, formerly owned a dance studio in Walnut Ridge. Trophies won by her students in regional and national competitions are on display at Dynamic Rhythm. She has judged national competitions in the past and she still does choreography for some clogging students in east Arkansas.

Moore said she will teach dance classes for adults and for youth and the type of classes will be according to demand. Some classes will be for recreational dance, and others will be preparing students for competitive dance contests. She has plans for a zumba dance class for adults and has had one request for an adult ballet class. Her main interest is in clogging; but she said she has visions of sponsoring street dances on Main Street, hosting weekend dances with area bands -- probably country or bluegrass -- and having her students perform at halftime of Gravette ball games. She encourages local businesses to support such activities with their time and their talents.

Moore explained that she likes to support local charities and she requires her competitive dancers to log a number of charity hours. She is currently working in support of the Helping Hands organization.

Jodi said she plans to hold a recital where all her dance students will perform the end of May or the first of June. There is no charge for her recitals, she said; she only makes money on her dance lessons.
