Gentry takes first, second in track

PEA RIDGE -- Gentry High School took first in the boys' and second in the girls' overall scores at the 4A Region 1 track meet held in Pea Ridge on April 28. Gravette boys finished in sixth place, and the Gravette girls finished in fourth.

Christian Capehart of Gentry took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.97. He also took second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:12.78. Austin Moon, of Gravette, took third in the event, finishing it in 5:19.47.

Gentry boys took third in all three relay events. Gravette boys took a second in the 4x400 relay.

Bryan Harris of Gentry and Alex Fink of Gravette tied for second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 6 inches.

Cole Cripps of Gentry took a gold in pole vault, clearing 13 feet. Harris took second, clearing 11 feet. Lane Martinez of Gravette was third, at 10 1/2 feet.

Fink took third in the long jump, clearing 19 feet, 6 inches. Bryan Harris took a second in the triple jump, clearing 39 feet, 11 1/2 inches.

Zach Ellis of Gentry took third in the shot put, throwing 40 feet, 10 1/2 inches. He brought home first in the discus, throwing the disk 134 feet, 6 inches. He was followed by Jake Faulkenberry of Gentry with a 108-feet, 8-inch, throw, and Will Robinson of Gravette with a throw of 104 feet, 5 inches.

Girls' Results

On the girls' side, Mallory Morris of Gentry brought home a silver in the 400-meter dash, finishing it in 1:06.42. She took first in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:41.79. Lauren Little of Gentry, took second at 2:50.22.

Bringing home a gold for Gentry in the 1600-meter run was Brynn Elliott, finishing in 6:03.62. And she did it again in the 3200, finishing in 12:57.54. Brooke Brasel of Gravette finished third with a time of 14:23.67.

The Gravette girls beat out Gentry in the 4x100 relay, finishing third; but Gentry finished just ahead of Gravette, in second, in the 4x400. The Gentry girls took first in the 4x800. Gravette finished in third.

Chastery Fuamatu of Gentry took first in the shot, throwing 31 feet. Jaki Chalk of Gravette threw just a half inch short of 28 feet for a third-place finish.

Hannah Boss and Chastery Fuamatu of Gentry finished in second and third in the discus, throwing 90 feet, 3 inches and 82 feet, 10 inches.
