Local runners fare well at state cross-country meet

WESTSIDE -- Several area runners fared well in the state cross country track meet held at Hot Springs on Nov. 7, and the Gentry girls' team took second in the 4A girls' division.

Mallory Morris, a Gentry senior, took third for the girls in the 5K with a time of 20:34.7 2. Brynn Elliott, Gentry sophomore, took fourth with her time of 20:55.6 3. Jordan Jeter, Gravette senior, finished 13th with a time of 21:56.2 9. Brooke Brasel, Gravette sophomore, was 16th with a time of 22:11.7 12. Finishing 24th was Jaydon Jarnagan, an eighth grader in Gentry schools, at 23:02.7 18. Kaylee Midyett, a Gravette freshman, finished 31st, at 23:27.3 23. Kya Dezurik, a Gentry sophomore, finished 33rd at 23:45.6 25.

The Gentry girls finished second overall, with an average time of 22:35.16. The Gravette girls finished fifth with an average time of 23:18.50.

On the boys' side, Clay Wills, a Gentry junior, finished 14th with a time of 18:18.3 12. Harvi Davis, a Gentry sophomore, was at 45th, finishing the 5K run at 19:19.6 43. Austin Moon, Gravette junior, finished at 47th, with a time of 19:30.1.

Gentry High School finished seventh in the boys' 4A division.
