'Come Home for Christmas' celebration planned

GRAVETTE -- Plans are shaping up for Gravette's annual Christmas celebration. Theme for the annual holiday event, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, is "Come Home for Christmas."

A Christmas parade will be held, beginning at 4 p.m., with prizes to be given for first-, second- and third-place floats. Entry deadline is Thursday, Dec. 3. Persons interested in participating are invited to visit the Chamber of Commerce website,www.gravettechamber.com, to download an entry form or pick one up at Ozarks Community Hospital, Station 29 Pub and Grill, Bank of Gravett or Dynamic Rhythm Dance Studio. Late entries will be allowed to be a part of the parade but will not be eligible for awards. Parade lineup is at 3:30 p.m.

The Christmas parade route will end at the Gravette Historical Museum, where a number of fun events are planned. The museum and grounds will be decorated with old-fashioned Christmas decorations and children will be able to create ornaments to help decorate the tree. Santa will be on hand in the museum annex to hear the youngsters' requests and they will have an opportunity to have their picture made with the jolly old fellow in a North Pole setting.

Tours of the museum will be given, and a campfire will be burning on the grounds to help keep guests warm. Free chili, hot cocoa and cookies will be served to warm their tummies. Holiday music will be provided by Cole and Lauren Leonard.

Everyone in the area is invited to come enjoy the festive lights and decorations and really get in the holiday spirit. Activities at the museum will begin about 5 p.m. and conclude at 7 p.m. so that those who wish to may attend the holiday drama at Gravette High School. The high school drama department will present "A Christmas Carol," beginning at 7 p.m., in the GHS performing arts center. The "A Christmas Carol" performance will be repeated Sunday afternoon, Dec. 6, at 2:30 p.m., also in the PAC.
