Bulldogs lose to JC Westside

DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldog football team traveled south to take on the Rebels of Johnson County Westside at Coal Hill on Friday in a conference game. The Rebels were 2 and 2 overall and 2 and 1 in conference play, while the Bulldogs were 0 and 4 overall and 0 and 2 in conference play going into Friday night's contest.

The Bulldog defense struggled to keep the Rebels out of the end zone in the first half, and Westside chalked up three scores to take an 18 to 0 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Decatur defense performed a little better and held the Westside offense to only two scores.

The only Decatur score came on a one-yard touchdown by Leng Lee in the fourth quarter. But it proved too little, as the Rebels took their third conference victory, 30 to 7.

The Bulldogs fall to 0 and 3 in conference play and 0 and 5 overall.

In the junior high game, the Rebels defeated the Bulldogs, 22 to 13. Tajae White scored both touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will travel south to take on the Wolverines of Western Yell County at 7 p.m. in Havana on Oct. 9. They are also 0 and 5 overall and 0 and 3 in conference play. For a list of the remaining Decatur Bulldog football games or any other Decatur sports, go to decatursd.com/athletics.
