Church in the Park

Grilled Chicken Dinners

The Gentry Senior Activity and Wellness Center is offering grilled chicken dinners on Friday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets for the event come with a $6 donation to the Gentry Senior Meal Program. For more information, call 479-736-0378.

Springtown Cemetery

The Springtown Cemetery Association will hold its annual business meeting and fall cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 17. All interested people are encouraged to come and participate, especially service organizations, scouts and church groups. Area Quilt Class

A class for area quilters and crafters will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Church of Christ annex, 202 Irving St., S.W., in Gravette. Instruction will be given on a quilt block and a "show and tell" session will be held. Please bring finished projects or works in progress and a snack to share.

GHS Book Fair

Gravette High School's library and media center will be hosting a book fair on Tuesday, Oct. 20, through Thursday, Oct. 22. The book fair will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, with extended hours, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. Parent-teacher conferences are on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 8 p.m. The fair is sponsored by Once Upon A Time: Fine Books and Collectibles, which offers a large selection of new and gently-used books in several categories. Trick or Treat on Main

Gentry's Trick or Treat on Main Street event, sponsored by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, on Gentry's Main Street.

Charter School Meeting

Gentry Public Schools will hold a Conversion Charter informational meeting on Nov. 3 to discuss the conversion charter application and proposed educational programming. The meeting will be held in the Pioneer Activity Complex (PAC building) hospitality room, beginning at 6 p.m. All are invited to attend.

OCH Fall Festival

Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette will host a community fall festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, sponsored by OCH, the Gravette Chamber of Commerce and several area churches and organizations. Activities will be held in the hospital's front parking lot so visitors should park in the clinic parking lot. Trunk-or-treat will be held for the youngsters, along with free snow cones, candy and food, games and inflatable rides. A chili cook off will be held and guests will be able to do face painting, pumpkin painting and crafts. A petting zoo will also be available. All activities are free, except for the chili cook off. An entry fee of $10 will be charged to help pay for cook off prizes. The winner of the best chili will receive $100, and the winner of the best decorated chili cook off booth will receive a $50 prize. Costumes are encouraged. The event will go on, rain or shine. Food Drive

Gentry High School has challenged Shiloh Christian to a DARE to CARE canned food drive between now and the Gentry-Shiloh football game on Oct. 16. Gentry schools will be collecting donations of non-perishable canned food items at any of the Gentry campus offices. Octoberfest Pageants

Thanksgiving Lunch

Gravette Middle School will host a Thanksgiving lunch on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Students are encouraged to invite the parents and grandparents. To attend, guests will need to RSVP the GMS office by Nov. 13 so the cafeteria can prepare enough meals for the special event. Lunch times are 11:20 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.

Mother-Son Dance

The first annual Mother-Son Dance (for sons in fifth grade and younger) is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the community building in downtown Siloam Springs. The evening of fun is $15 for one mother and up to two sons; additional sons are $5 each. For more information, visit the Siloam Springs Parks and Recreation office at 120 South Mt. Maysville Food Pantry

CARE Satellite Pantry, in partnership with the Maysville Bible Church, is operating a food pantry at the church on the first Saturday of each month. Food is available for those in Benton County, Delaware County, Okla., and McDonald County, Mo. The next free food giveaway will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 7, at the church on Highway 72 east of the four way stop. Applicants must present ID, Social Security number, address and number of people in the home. Food boxes contain canned vegetables, pasta, cereal, rice, spices, health and beauty aids. Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It features locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more.

Gentry Farmers' Market

Gentry's farmers' market is held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Main Street Pavilion located next door to the Chicken Coop flea market, at 500 E. Main Street, Gentry. For more information on the market, call 479-871-1052. Farmers may register for space and sell there on those days without charge.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
