GRAVETTE -- Members of the PieceMakers Quilters at Gravette and the Gravette Historical Museum cosponsored their second quilt show Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Civic Center. More than 100 people came out to view the quilts exhibited by members of the club, most of them owned and many of them made by the PieceMakers.

The Gravette Historical Museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and the quilt show was one of several events held during its 20th year.

Almost 50 quilts were displayed by PieceMakers members from Gentry, Decatur, Gravette, Sulphur Springs, Bella Vista and Jay, Okla. Rebecca's Quilt Shop, of Kansas, Okla., had a booth selling fabric; The Quilt Corner, of Sulphur Springs, had a display; and Alice McElwain, an American Quilter's Society certified quilt appraiser from Bella Vista, was on hand to help anyone who wanted a quilt appraised.

"Dolly's Dream," a quilt pieced and quilted by Dolly Mosley of Tulsa, Okla., and exhibited by Carolyn Dickson of Bella Vista, and a "Cathedral Window" quilt pieced and quilted by Bernice Stark of Tulia, Texas, were tied in voting for the favorite quilt in the show. "Dolly's Dream" has been exhibited at shows from the east coast to the west coast, including at the Smithsonian Institution, and has won 24 blue ribbons. The "Cathedral Window" quilt was exhibited by Lavon Stark and was the last quilt her mother-in-law made, in 1982.

The PieceMakers Quilters meet the third Saturday of each month at 12:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ annex in Gravette. Anyone interested is welcome to attend and bring finished quilts or works in progress, other needlework or crafts. Instruction is given on a quilt block and a "show and tell" session is held at each meeting.
