DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldogs had a tough go of it during their final home game of the 2015 season against the Hector Wildcats at Bulldog Stadium Oct. 23 in a non-conference game.

Before the game, the seniors were honored for their contributions to the Decatur football program over the last few years. Tyler Riddle, Meng Vang, Kyle Shaffer and Jesse Collins, along with Alex Morrow and Lizeth Fuentes from the cheer team, stood in front of the home crowd to receive a plaque from head coach Shane Holland.

Ray Haisman, who continues his treatment for cancer, was honored earlier in the evening with a spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Decatur High School senior class. The dinner was well attended by students, parents and residents of Decatur. All the proceeds from the dinner will go to help the Haisman family with medical expenses.

The Bulldogs defense had a rough start during the first quarter as it allowed the Wildcats to score three touchdowns to take control, 21 to 0. The second quarter was not much better as Hector was able to score several more times to take a 38 to 0 lead into the half time break.

The Bulldogs came out of the locker room a more aggressive team, holding Hector scoreless throughout the second half. The only touchdown in the second half came late in the third quarter on a quarterback keeper by Meng Vang. The two-point conversion attempt by Vang failed, making it the final score 38 to 6.

The Bulldogs are now 1 and 4 in conference play and 1 and 6 overall.

Decatur will travel to Fort Smith Oct. 30 to take on the Union Christian Eagles for a 2A conference match up. Game time will be 7 p.m.

The Decatur Bulldog seventh-grade and junior high teams traveled south to take on the Wildcats at Hector Oct. 22. The seventh-grade Bulldogs played a close game with the Wildcats but ultimately lost to Hector by a touchdown, 12 to 6. In junior high action, the Bulldogs played a much tougher Wildcat team. They, too, were defeated by Hector, 34 to 14. The junior high team will play its final game of the 2015 season at 7 p.m against the Leftwich Rattlers Nov. 5 at Bulldog Stadium in Decatur.
