Police investigating break in

GENTRY -- Police are investigating a break in at a car wash on Gentry Blvd. which was reported last week. According to police, unknown suspects cut into coin boxes and took a small amount of money. Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to call the police department at 479-736-5800.

Three juveniles received trespass warnings in connection with a possible attempted burglary Sept. 5 on McKinnon Ave., according to police. Had they actually entered the home, they would have faced felony charges, according to Keith Smith, Gentry police chief.

Police are stepping up patrols on the northeast side of the city due to reports of speeders on roads and streets there. Tickets will be written to offenders, Smith said.

Also on the watch list for local police are animals at large after hours and on days when Gentry's animal control officer is not on duty. Smith said he has instructed his officers to cite owners of dogs at large in the city in an effort to curb the problem and reduce the number of complaints.
