Lady Lions had tough week of play

GRAVETTE -- The Lady Lions were shut out by Pea Ridge, 10-0, on April 4; lost to Prairie Grove on Saturday, 7-6, and beat Valley Springs on Saturday, 11-5.

The Lady Lions couldn't get on the board when they hosted a tough Lady Blackhawk team on April 4. The Gravette girls mustered five hits but couldn't get anyone home in the conference game.

Pea Ridge took the lead early, with three runs in the first, another six in the sixth and one more in their final at bat.

Jaye Chalk was two for three with her bat. Brittany Crawley hit a double. Robin Davis and Lindsey Sharp pitched for the Lady Lions, striking out a total of six Pea Ridge batters.

Gravette v. Prairie Grove

Gravette was up, 6 to 5, after five innings against Prairie Grove, but the Lady Tigers were able to scratch out two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead and win the game on Saturday.

Gravette had six runs on 11 hits, and Prairie Grove ended with seven runs on 13 hits.

Devin Rodebaugh, Allie Callahan and Sydney King all had doubles in the game. Heaven Butler batted in two runs for Gravette.

Lindsey Sharp was Gravette's pitcher.

Gravette v. Valley Springs

Jaye Chalk hit two home runs to carry Gravette Lions Varsity to an 11-5 victory over Valley Springs in seven innings on Saturday.

The Lady Lions had 19 hits, including five extra-base hits in the game. Gravette scored four runs in the fourth on a solo home run by Chalk, a two-run single by Jaki Chalk and an RBI single by Robin Davis.

Davis got the win for Gravette even though she allowed five runs over six innings. Davis struck out five, walked none and gave up 14 hits.

Sumer McCall, Destiny Laymon, Hannah Cole and Jaye Chalk combined for 12 hits and five RBIs in the game. Hannah Cole hit a triple.
