Gentry Animal Control receives $3,450 BISSELL Pet Foundation grant

Grant will fund spay and neuter surgeries for community cats

— BISSELL Pet Foundation, supported in part by BISSELL Homecare, Inc., has awarded $3,450 to Gentry Animal Control to support its life-saving efforts. Funds will be used to provide spay and neuter surgeries to feral and free-roaming cats.

Cat overpopulation is a major issue in Gentry and the surrounding area. This grant will enable Gentry Animal Control to proactively spay and neuter community cats. With thousands of pets euthanized each year, sterilization addresses the root cause of animal overpopulation by preventing unwanted births and freeing up shelter space for pets in need.

"Spaying and neutering are humane and critical methods to combat pet overpopulation," explained Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. "We are thrilled to support preventative efforts that allow our partners to save thousands of animals from being euthanized each year."

Gentry Mayor, Kevin Johnston, said "All grants received are much appreciated and this BISSELL Pet Foundation grant allows us to address the important issue of controlling our cat population. We appreciate BISSELL's partnership in helping to provide a positive and humane solution to this issue."

BISSELL Pet Foundation addresses the growing problem of displaced, unwanted and homeless pets by providing assistance to shelter and rescue programs, and by creating awareness about pet overpopulation in the hope of finding every pet a loving home. Since its inception, the foundation has given more than $3 million in support to organizations like Gentry Animal Control.
