— It's almost time once again to come on out to the showgrounds of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks in Gentry to see the old tractors and engines fired up and showing off how they were used in the region during the last century or two. The show, which is free to the public, opens Friday, Sept. 9, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 11.

The three-day event will feature antique tractors and farm implements, old engines and tools, working sawmills, a blacksmith shop, entertainment, food and more. This 25th annual fall show will also feature a flea market all weekend.

A parade of power, allowing tractor owners to show off their old work-horse machines, will be held each day at noon. Tractor games, too, are on the schedule. The featured tractor this year will be John Deere, but there will be plenty of red, orange and grey tractors there for farm enthusiasts of a different persuasion.

Antique home furnishings will be on display in a large building on the show grounds, and visitors might be surprised at the machines and utensils on display there.

Rope making is again on the bill for the children, and there will be plenty of booths and exhibitors on hand to entertain the adults as well. Photos will be taken in the club's restored one-seater outhouse. A furnished log cabin gives visitors a hint of what life was like for many in the olden days.

Food and drinks are available at the club's concessions stand. Breakfast and lunch will be available there.

A church service is planned for 9 a.m. on Sunday morning for club members and guests.

As always, the show and parking are free. There's even an RV Park with more than 30 spaces for those who wish to spend the entire weekend at the event.

Tired Iron of the Ozarks is devoted to educating young and old about old engines, tractors and farm life in the region in the late 1800s through the middle 1900s.

The club's showgrounds are located at 13344 Taylor Orchard Road, in Gentry. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
