— Family time and horsemanship go hand-in-hand for members of the Northwest Arkansas Riding Club. Bi-weekly play days give members opportunity for both as children and adults learn riding skills and spend time together coaching and learning.

Saturday's play day was no exception as families loaded their horses into trailers and their families into their trucks to head to the new NWA Riding Club arena, midway between Decatur and Centerton along Arkansas Highway 102.

Events held at the play days include pole bending, keyhole, barrel racing, goat tying and flag racing. Both children and adults had their opportunity to participate. The club also holds trail rides and camp outs throughought the year in addition to the regular play-day events held every two weeks at the arena.

Play days begin with exhibition rides at 4:30 p.m. followed by the grand entry and regular events at 5 p.m. The deadline to sign up for events is 4:30 p.m. Upcoming dates include July 16 and July 30. Regular play-day events are $5 each and exhibition rides are $4. Family memberships are $25 per year. The last June play day was canceled because of the Siloam Springs Rodeo and the first July event is on July 16 due to the July 4th holiday.

NWA Riding Club is a family-oriented, non-profit organization. The bi-weekly play days are held at the club's new arena, at 16949 Highway 102 West, Decatur. For more information and a complete schedule, visit www.nwaridingclub.org or call Tom Graves at 712-266-6327.
